Abstract – The periodic composite medium consisting of two lattices of different dielectric spherical particles has been investigated analytically and numerically. It is shown that effective double negative media (DNG) can be realized in the frequency region where resonance of TM mode in the particles of one kind and TE mode in the particles another kind exist simultaneously. Ferroelectric single crystals or ceramic samples with dielectric constant about 1000 can be used as a suitable material for manufacturing the spherical particles.

Abstract–Reflection characteristics of microstrip two-periodic gratings of perfectly conducting infinitely long strips having the complex shape are considered. The effect when reflected field possess orthogonal polarization relative to incidence wave polarization is considered. The possibility of insertion the control device in strips for the transformation considered grating to the array from the strip disconnected elements is proposed. The possibility for the structure application as high-impedance surface is considered. The comparison of the reflection properties of the two-periodic gratings of non-chiral strips and straight-line strip gratings is presented.

Electromagnetic radiation of the submillimeter (SMM) range is dispersed and absorbed significantly less than infrared (IR) radiation when passing through different objects. That is the reason for the development of a SMM imaging system. In fact, strong absorption of IR radiation in water and water vapor makes it impossible to use IR air and sea navigation systems when it is fog or raining...

Abstract- The electromagnetic behavior of one-dimensional composite meta-materials (CMMs) consisting of rectangular Split Ring Resonators (SRRs) and continuous wires was studied. The main purpose was to investigate if those composite meta-materials act as left handed materials which have the unique property of having both effective permittivity and effective permeability negative [1]. The transmission of electromagnetic waves (between 7-14 GHz) through the CMM was measured as well as the transmission through its various constituents (SRR-only and wire-only structures, and CMMs containing SRRs with no gaps).
The transmission measurements were performed in free-space, using a HP 8722 ES network analyzer and microwave standard-gain horn antennas.
It was found that CMM shows a transmission peak between 8.5 and 9.5GHz, within the frequency region where the SRR dip appears and below the cut-off frequency of the system of wires+closed SRRs. This was taken as a strong evidence for left handed behavior.
